Sky high Mall threw challenges that were quite unique. Our clients, GHPL, required us to turn the program of an existing structure, intended for a 100 bed hotel, into the most sought after mall in Ranchi. Not only the program distribution over 10 floors is a difficult task for retail, but also to turn the existing structural framework for the new use was an uphill task.
Programmatically, we restricted the retail to level 5 and then every consecutive level was given a dedicated program, like Movie hall, Banqueting, Clubs etc.
Development of the street Facade was another interesting exercise. Upon freezing the program, we decided to design the street facade from the point of view of user engagement and marketing possibilities.
Custom codes determined the sight-lines of visitors upon approach to the building. The information was mapped on a predetermined receiving envelope. This envelope was sculpted further based on user data and program distribution. For example, we maintained certain visibility of the gym while providing Advertising/Media possibilities in spaces that were prominent externally yet dead internally.
